reading notifications

Reading notification is a feature that allows you to easily request that the message has been received.

I've personally never had problems with Gmail, but it seems like people I know do have problems with the service from time to time. Mail that just doesn't arrive or gets in the wrong place (spam for example) or in a wrong inbox.

Since being sure that the contour party actually gets is one thing, but that the message is actually read is another. Therefore I propose an addition with features and options like these ...

... manually being able to add a confirmation request. Without any low/medium/high priority, since every request has it's importance.

... make it appear as a part of the message by displaying just underneath the sender information.

... attribute it an icon in front of the message to indicate it as unconfirmed or confirmed, perhaps by using a red and green envelop like icon?

... display the black inbox text for messages as red when they are yet to be confirmed.

... if you need confirmation within a certain amount of time, you might be able to set that amount of time, to be warned the message didn't got through (just like failure to deliver, but then because it hasn't been read.

... when opening a message that needs a reading notification the notification is sent automatically when you have opened the message.

... ability to disable showing the filtering link for those messages in the mail menu, that could be called "notifications".

... being able to send yourself a message where you specify the service it's meant for and checks if you've made an entry that contains one of the more prominent words out of your message. Creating a Gmail "re:mind:er" to do or add something to a service and to check if you actually did it.
